Invitation for Prequalification

Loan No. 2008 MON, Regional Road Development Project
 
1.This Invitation for Prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the “ADB Business Opportunities” on May 1, 2006. The eligibility rules and procedures of ADB will govern the prequalification and the bidding process.
2.MONGOLIA has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Regional Roads Development Project.
3.The Ministry of Road, Transport and Tourism (hereinafter referred to as the “Employer”) intends to pre-qualify firms for the following contract under this project:
Contract Package B2: Civil works for the construction of road section between 100th XXX and YYY Road (1000 km long). The civil works include:
Embankment construction and excavations,
Construction of flexible pavement comprising subbase, base and asphalt concrete surfacing,
Construction of bridges and culverts,
Provision of shoulders, drainage and protection works and activities to plant trees along the road,
Road signs, markings and other road appurtenances.
The Employer intends to procure the contract for the above package under this project through international competitive bidding following the ADB’s Guidelines for Procurement of Civil Works or according to relevant bilateral agreements.
4.It is expected that the Invitation for Bids will be made in October 2006.
5.Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from the Ministry of Road, Transport and Tourism and inspect the Prequalification Document at the address given below, from 9 am to 6 pm.
6.The Prequalification Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of USD 200 or equivalent in Togrogs.  The method of payment will be by the direct deposit to the account No.1100000000 of “Post Bank” of Mongolia, Road Supervision and Research Centre. The document will be sent by express courier for overseas delivery and surface mail for local delivery. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

7.Applications must be delivered to the address below on or before August 1, 2006. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late applications.
8.The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Applicants in connection with the prepara¬tion or delivery of their Applications.
9.The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been pre-qualified.
